Valve-regulated lead-acid battery is a kind of lead-acid battery. The valve-regulated lead-acid battery case and cover are made of ABS synthetic resin or flame-retardant plastic, the positive and negative electrodes are paste-coated plates with special lead-calcium alloy grids, and the separator is made of high-quality ultra-fine GLASS FIBER cotton (felt). Equipped with a safe and reliable pressure reducing valve to implement high-pressure exhaust. my country began to develop small valve-regulated sealed lead-acid batteries in 1986.

Classification of valve-regulated sealed lead-acid batteries

One is the poor liquid type, that is, the cathode absorption ultrafine fiber diaphragm battery. The domestic Shuangdeng battery and the batteries imported from Japan Yuasa and the American GNB company belong to this category; the other is the gel battery. The domestic Austrian battery belongs to this category. Crown and German solar cells imported from abroad belong to this category.

The principle and structure of the two types of valve-regulated sealed lead-acid batteries are based on the original lead-acid batteries. Measures are taken to promote oxygen cycle recombination and suppress hydrogen production. Any oxygen production can be considered as water loss. If the water is excessively lost, the battery will dry up and fail, and the internal resistance of the battery will increase, resulting in a loss of battery capacity.

Features of valve-regulated sealed lead-acid batteries

(1) There is no need to add water during maintenance work;

(2) Excellent high-current discharge performance, especially excellent impact discharge performance;

(3) The self-discharge current is small, and the monthly self-discharge rate is less than 2% at 25°C, which is about 1/5~1/4 of other lead-acid batteries;

(4) No liquid leakage, no acid mist, no corrosion of equipment, no harm to people, no pollution to the environment;

(5) The battery has a long service life. When used in a floating charge state at 25°C, the battery life can reach 10 to 15 years;

(6) Compact structure, good sealing performance, can be installed in the same room as the equipment, can be installed vertically or horizontally, occupies a small area, and has good seismic performance;

(7) There is no memory effect of nickel-cadmium batteries.

Valve-regulated sealed lead-acid batteries have stable performance, reliability, and low maintenance workload, and are favored by designers and operators. However, valve-regulated sealed lead-acid batteries are sensitive to temperature, overcharging and undercharging are not allowed, the requirements for charging and discharging are strict, and charging devices with better performance are required. Improper use and maintenance will seriously shorten the service life of the battery.
