What are the safety evaluation projects for lead-acid batteries

2022-10-31

During the application process of
lead-acid batteries, it is necessary to carry out irregular safety performance evaluation inspections to ensure their normal operation and avoid losses caused by their failures.

The battery safety evaluation includes the following items:

(1) Whether the
battery terminal voltage, electrolyte specific gravity, liquid level, and room temperature are within the normal range, whether the measurement is carried out at normal prescribed time intervals, whether the data is accurate and the records are complete, and whether the plates are bent, fallen off, vulcanized, and alkali creeping. (The terminal voltage of the maintenance-free and low-maintenance battery, the specific gravity of the power supply liquid of the low-maintenance battery, and whether the liquid level is regularly detected are also checked and evaluated according to this article.)

(2) Whether the performance of the float charging and regular charging devices is normal, whether the functions are complete, and whether there are serious defects, whether the float charging voltage or current control of the battery pack in the floating charging operation is appropriate, and whether the auxiliary batteries in the floating charging operation are regularly charged.

(3) Whether the check discharge or full capacity discharge is carried out, whether it can discharge 50% and 80% of the rated capacity of the battery under the specified termination voltage, and carry out equalization charging according to the regulations.

(4) Check whether the test instrument (voltmeter, straw hydrometer) and the DC panel meter are regularly calibrated (digital universal meter displays two decimal places).

(5) Whether the electrical equipment in the battery room adopts explosion-proof type, whether the ventilation is good, and whether the fire-fighting facilities are perfect.
