    There are two functions of the battery safety valve    


    First, when the gas pressure accumulated in the battery reaches the opening pressure of the safety valve, the valve opens to discharge the excess gas in the battery and reduce the internal pressure of the battery;


    The second is one-way gas, that is, the gas in the air is not allowed to enter the interior of the battery, so as not to cause the self-discharge of the battery.


 There are mainly three structural forms: rubber cap type, umbrella type and rubber column type. The material of the safety valve cap is acid-resistant and ozone-resistant rubber, such as styrene-butadiene rubber, isoethylene-ethylene-diene copolymer and neoprene, etc. The reliability of these three safety valves is: the column type > the umbrella type > the cap type.


    The working principle of battery safety valve    


    The opening and closing action of the safety valve is carried out under the specified pressure conditions, and the specified pressure for opening and closing the safety valve is called the valve opening pressure and the valve closing pressure. The valve opening pressure must be moderate. If the valve opening pressure is too high, the gas pressure accumulated inside the battery will increase, and the excessive internal pressure will cause the battery shell to expand and rupture, affecting the safe operation of the battery; if the valve opening pressure is too low, The full valve opens frequently, causing serious water loss in the battery and failure due to water loss. The function of the valve closing pressure is to close the safety valve in time to prevent oxygen in the air from entering the battery, so as to avoid self-discharge of the negative electrode of the battery. Different manufacturers have different valve opening and closing pressures for VRLA batteries, which are set by each manufacturer when the product leaves the factory.
